The Omega Speedmaster is one of the most important watches, if not the most important watch, of all time. I mean, its the watch that was chosen by astronauts in space and on the moon. So it seems fitting that Omega would release a 40th Anniversary Edition to commemorate the Apollo 15 Mission, the 4th mission to land on the moon and the first mission to use the Lunar Rover Vehicle. Special features include red, white and blue borders on the dial and sub-dial (fitting). This is a Baselworld 2011 sneak preview, so keep checking back for more updates! In the meantime, check out Omega's tribute to their legendary Speedmaster HERE.

Baselworld is an international trade show for the watch industry, celebrated in the little Swiss town of Basel. Everyone with anything to do with watches is there, and big brands release their new creations. As Baselworld 2011 is underway, this year is no disappointment. Here is a sneak peak at a few things we've come across...
This is the Tag Heuer Mikrotimer Flying 1000 Concept Chronograph. It is a beautiful watch to look at, but the movement is the amazing part of this watch. Where most quartz watches 'pulse' 3,600 times per hour, and most mechanical watches move 18K-28K times per hour, the Mikrometer 1000 moves 3.6 million times per hour....thats 1000 times per second. Check out the video below of the Mikrometer 1000's little brother, the Mikrometer 100. The video shows the hand moving 100 times per second.
Bremont, the fan favorite British watchmaker with ambassadors like Tom Cruise, Bear Grylls, and Orlando Bloom, released a new and simple watch, the BC-Solo.
Omega released a few new renditions of its famed Seamaster. This particular one is the blue dial/blue bezel, and they've begun to make them in Liquidmetal and Titanium, as well.
In true Rolex fashion, the "new" Rolex Explorere II has slight updates, including a new chapter ring and an orange GMT hand. Still, awesome looking watch.

MTM, the internationally recognized leading manufacturer of tactical military watches, proudly introduces the Pro Ops Series of rugged, dependable timepieces. After years of development, and in cooperation with Special Forces and Navy Seals units, MTM unveils several tactical watch models. These represent the most durable and innovative military watches for men available.
These hard to find combat ready timepieces are GSA approved, mil spec MIL-W-4637 4f compliant and limited production. Each watch is individually numbered. All of the watch cases are fabricated from a solid block of 316L stainless steel or titanium. Each watch has a locking screw case back, screw down crown and other technology which assures true water resistance to a depth of 300-600 feet.
Once only available to Special Forces units, S.W.A.T. teams, Secret Service, Navy Seals, Army Rangers, Air Force pilots, Police officers, Delta Force units, and DEA, FBI, and SAS agents, the Pro Ops Military Watch Series is now available for sale to the general public for the first time. We invite you to investigate this collection of rugged military timepieces. Only from MTM, they will surely make a statement of efficiency, dependability and rugged individuality for many demanding years to come. Our favorite, the Cobra for $1500, above.

We've reviewed Bell & Ross watches on GentDaily before, and the allure of Harley-Davidson motorcycles is easily evident, but never have their talents manifested into one single item...until now. The famed watchmaker and timeless motorcycle manufacturer came together to form a special-edition cafe racer that features a bell & ross watch installed into the gas tank. Check out the pics below for more details!
