Web/Tech: Apple iOS 5 & Mac OS X Lion

Apple unveiled its plans for the new iPhone and iPad operating system coming this fall. Some of the notable features include the option to use the volume-up button to take pictures, a notification system that allows the user to consolidate all email, text message, and push notifications, and a new messenging service that mimics BBM. iOS will be available this fall. 

Apple also unveiled a new operating system for its Mac computers; Mac OS X Lion. Some new features include desktop application icons, new mail and safari, and a new AirDrop feature that makes file sharing easier (thing DropBox). Mac OS X Lion is available this July as an update for $29.99.

As if Steve Jobs felt Apple needed another innovative product release to boost sales (click HERE for explanation of sarcasm...), Apple unveiled the new Macbook Air, and the Apple loyalists certainly got what they asked for in this overhaul. Up to 2.13Ghz of processor speed and up to 256GB of solid-state storage, this is a serious computing machine in a sturdy yet conveniently slim aluminum shell.
